Manifestation - From a Biblical Perspective

Call things which do not exists as though they did. Romans 4:17

From what I understand, very simply put, manifestation is speaking a loud what you want and believing with your entire being that it has already taken place! Now, let's see what the Word has to say about manifestation.

1 Corinthians 12:7 says, “To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good”. Jesus said in Mark 11:24, “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you have received them, and you will have them”. Notice how He said received! Past tense. Not only that, but we have the power of life and death in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21), something I say repeatedly to everyone in my life because we tend to say things without even realizing the impact it has on our atmosphere, mental health, or outcomes.

Therefore, not only what we think is powerful (which I talk about in my blog post, The Thoughts in Our Minds), but what comes out of our mouths is incredibly powerful as well. In Romans, the Apostle Paul reminds the Roman church of the time that God assured Abraham that he would be the father of many nations and he believed. The same “God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did” is working on our behalf as well.

We are to call those things which are not currently in our reality... into our reality. The Word says we have this power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us (Acts 1:8), and that Our Father is “able to do far more abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that is at work within us (Ephesians 3:20). We have that power at work already within us, we just need to access it.

Very few of us truly access that power because we do not believe it will work. We either do not believe Our Father would do it, we do not believe we have access, or worst of all, we do not believe we deserve it. Think about the last time you were blessed with wonderful love, grace, gifts, or material things... did you feel that you deserved it then? When do we truthfully ever deserve good things by how wonderful or perfect we are? Us being deserving is not the point!

We receive them because we are His children. Before giving my boys my love, or even a gift, I do not stop and think, “Now, wait a minute, let’s think over the last week/month/year, did they earn this? Do they deserve this?” In no way, shape or form do I do that. My love for them is unconditional, and my gifts are given to them because of that love, not because they deserve them.

I must state for the record, it is possible to manifest something outside of God's will. Therefore, it is up to you to be sure that you are believing for things (manifesting) within God’s will. That is between you and Him. I cannot stress that enough. Whenever this topic is brought up, I hear repetitively, “well you can’t just ask for a Lamborghini, or a mansion and expect it to be given to you.” A) I am not saying that, and B) I am not going to tell you what you can and cannot manifest (ask and believe for). Look, what you ask and believe for is between you and God. Is there a dark side to this? Obviously! As there is to everything, remember we talked about the enemy making a counterfeit for every beautiful aspect of God’s nature, order, and design. I would hope for everyone’s sake that you are careful with your thoughts and words as well as all aspects of your life and test the spirits as I have mentioned before.

Your relationship with your Creator is between you and Him and only you know if you are in line with Him or not. Does it line up with the Word? Does it hurt someone else? For example: are you trying to manifest someone else’s spouse? Does that line up with His Word? That would fall under the “do not covet” commandment; therefore, that does not line up with His word. However, even if you have your eyes on someone who is single, do you really know them, their heart, their intentions? Before setting your sights on manifesting a specific human being into your life, seek God extensively first! Personally, I would steer clear of manifesting a specific person.

Now that this topic is incredibly popular I have done my fair share of research. The main thing I have learned is that we must work on ourselves first, which starts with our relationship with our Creator. We must love ourselves first, which starts with believing that the Creator of the Universe created us in love, loves us unconditionally and that nothing can separate us from His love. (Romans 8:31-39) This means getting to know Him and what His voice sounds like. Diving into His Word and studying His nature, His attributes, His commandments, and His will. Asking Him to come into our hearts and minister to those places that may be struggling to trust Him and His timing.

Do we believe that He is willing to work all things together for our good? (Romans 8:28) Do we believe that His love for us is unconditional and that He is not way up there in the sky, distant from us, judging us with a harsh heart? Do we believe that His mercy is new every single morning? Do we believe that He delights in our joy? Do we believe that if we delight ourselves in Him that He will give us the desires of our hearts? (Psalm 37:4) Can we surrender to His will, His way and His timing within the manifestation process? Can we have faith while we wait? Trust me, I know how hard that is!

We completely manifested our house! Every day, the boys and I said aloud, believingInsert Full Address Here belongs to us.” In many people’s minds, I was completely delusional in believing that for years, without fail. However, I received confirmation after confirmation outside of prophetic words. One confirmation came after I found out that I had to wait until 10/23/2020 to have two years of business tax returns to provide to the bank. Then someone “randomly” gave me Hebrews 10:23 (without knowing my situation), “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope, without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” Every single word could be emphasized in that scripture, and we did hold fast, we did confess that hope, without wavering, and He who promised was faithful to deliver. After I received that confirmation the boys and I added that verse to our nightly affirmations. Every time I saw 10:23 somewhere I would declare that affirmation.

Affirmations are a powerful tool in the manifestation process. They improve our mental health whether we realize it or not! Along with the music we listen to, the movies we watch, the books we read, and the people we surround ourselves with. Everything that we feed ourselves impacts our atmosphere, our minds, our souls, our hearts, and our spirits, in such an invisible and powerful way.

Therefore, it is important to check those affirmations with the Word before declaring and decreeing them. The statements you align yourself with decipher which source the power comes from, your Creator (the truth) or your enemy (the counterfeit). For example, there is a financial affirmation that says, “I love money.” While I get why they phrased it that way, because we tend to have such a negative relationship with money as a culture; however, 1 Timothy 6:10 states that the “love of money is the root of all evil”, of which I think we can all agree we see the effects of in our society! I do believe that our relationship with money needs to change though. It is just a tool that can be used to survive, thrive, and glorify God.

However, the affirmation that says, “Everything is always working out for me no matter what it looks like at any given point in time” reminds me of Romans 8:28, “God works all things together for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to Him purpose”. Or the “I AM” affirmations, i.e. I am beautiful, loved, worthy, worthy of love, strong, more than enough, etc. Joel 3:10 states,“Let the weak say, ‘I am a WARRIOR.’” Just as one example, you can study the scripture yourself to find more! Which is exactly what I did. When I hear affirmations that I like, I search the scriptures to see if it lines up or clashes.

There are more than just “I AM” affirmations, and here are some examples:

  • I know/understand

    • “I know that I have more than enough provision for myself and my household and extra left over to give to others.”

  • I see

    • “I see my beauty and strength.”

  • I speak/declare/decree

    • “I declare and decree that everything is working out for me no matter what it looks like at any given point in time.”

  • I love

    • “I love myself to the fullest.”

  • I do

    • "I do not chase. I attract."

  • I feel

    • “I feel loved and worthy of love.”

  • I am

    • “I am worthy.”

That is just a start! There is so much information out there, remember to test the spirits, check the Word, and have an open line of communication with your Creator on a regular basis to make sure you are in alignment with His will!
